Default search engine error in IE 8
Default search engine error in IE 8
Error message: A Program on your computer has corrupted your default search setting for Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer has reset this setting to your original search provider.)
The following steps that is given below is the work around , so try the below mentioned steps for this issue.
Step: 1 If customer is using IE 8 or IE 9 , do the below mentioned steps .
Step: 2 Open IE in No add-ons mode , check the issue appears, If the issue still persists .
Step: 3 Open the internet options , and disable all the tool bar and click on Search providers , uncheck the option from “Prevent Programs from Suggesting Changes to my default search provider”
Step: 4 If the issue still persists, remove the Search Providers from the same window.
Step: 5 restart the internet explorer, if the issue still persists.
Step: 6 open Add or remove programs, check any tool bars or the search providers names are listed, if listed uninstall it.
Step: 7 If the issue still persists, Perform IE reset.
Step: 8 IF the issue still persists, uninstall the Current version of IE,
Note: Do not upgrade.
Step: 9 Restart the computer, open IE , if the issue still persists .
Step: 10 open Registry editor, take a backup of entire registry editor .
Step: 11 Navigate to the below mentioned registry path and delete both the entries .
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search Scopes
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\User Preferences
