Fail to create system restore point

Signs & Symptoms

1. When trying to create a system restore point, the system shows an error of "Please reboot and try again"

Fix Steps

1. Open an elevated command prompt

2. Copy and paste these commands

sc config srservice start= disabled

3. reboot

4. Delete the contents of the System Volume Information Folder

Use http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309531 if you're unable to gain access to the folder

5. Open an elevated command prompt

6. Copy and paste these commands

sc config srservice start= auto

7. Reboot

8. Create Restore Point
